For the very first feature in Louis in the Wild, we’re starting not only where the idea began—but with whom. Erika K., one of the founders of LITW, was recently spotted carrying a bag that perfectly reflects the spirit of the series: a Louis Vuitton Coussin Hobo MM in Black (M12068), worn effortlessly and exactly as it was meant to be—out in the world.
The Coussin Hobo stands out without trying too hard. Its plush, pillowy leather, relaxed slouch, and bold gold chain hardware make it immediately recognizable, but never overstated. It’s the kind of bag that draws your eye because it looks lived-in, not staged.
Erika’s attraction to the bag was immediate. She gravitates toward oversized, slouchy silhouettes, and the Coussin Hobo delivered on that instinct right away. As she puts it, “The look of the bag is what initially drew me in. I am a big fan of big, slouchy bags—and this bag fit the bill.” The supple leather and gleaming gold chain hardware sealed the decision, striking a balance between softness and presence.

In real life, the Coussin Hobo occupies a sweet spot between everyday practicality and elevated style. Erika describes her use as “special-occasion daily”—those moments when you want something more refined, but still need a bag that can carry everything you actually use. “For those occasions where you want a more upscale bag but still need to carry your daily essentials, this is a great option,” she explains. It elevates the moment without demanding one.
What has impressed her most since owning it is the comfort—something that can’t be taken for granted with a bag of this size. The Coussin Hobo’s more utilitarian shoulder and crossbody strap keeps it grounded and wearable, even when fully loaded. It carries well, holds a lot, and still feels luxurious in hand. “It holds a lot, and is beautiful to look at,” she says. “It feels really nice too.”

When asked about any shortcomings, her answer is immediate: none. If there is any restraint in how often she carries it, it’s intentional rather than critical. Because the bag is so beautiful—and sits at a higher price point—she’s selective about when she wears it, preferring to protect it from unnecessary wear rather than treat it as a “daily beater.”
Though she hasn’t owned it long, the early signs are exactly what she hoped for. The leather, structure, and overall finish are holding up beautifully. From a value standpoint, she feels confident as well. The Coussin Hobo is not overly abundant on the resale market, with some listings approaching or exceeding retail. Still, resale was never the motivation. “I don’t buy for resale—I buy to enjoy,” she says, adding that she can’t imagine ever parting with this bag.
This particular Coussin Hobo was purchased resale, in excellent condition, through The RealReal at roughly 80% of retail—a route Erika has had consistent success with. More broadly, the bag only reinforced her long-held view of the house itself. Louis Vuitton remains her number one luxury brand, a position this purchase did nothing to challenge.
Would she recommend it? Without hesitation. If you love large, slouchy bags that feel genuinely luxurious yet still function in real life, the Coussin Hobo is an easy yes. Her only wish is simple: more opportunities to wear it.

Talking about dream bags feels like a natural extension of ownership—because loving one piece often opens the door to imagining what comes next. On Erika’s realistic wishlist are the LV x TM Multicolor Black Soft Speedy 30 (M13257) and the Low Key Speedy 30 in black (M24891) or cognac (M24892). After recently adding a Soft Speedy Celebration (28379) to her collection, she’s convinced the Soft Speedy line is something special. And if money were no object, the list expands into pure aspiration: a P9 in Pink Agate, an Alma 103 (M25204) in black, a Golden Silk Blue P9 25 (M28080), and even a Coffret Joaillerie (M20040) with a teal interior.
And that brings it back to the point of Louis in the Wild. In the end, it’s not just about the bag—it’s about the person carrying it. The choices they make, how they wear it, and how it fits into their life once it leaves the boutique. If you spot Louis Vuitton in the wild, you’re already part of the story—because you’re seeing the brand as it truly exists: personal, intentional, and lived in.
